U.S. Premiere of Water by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood

“If there’s a better chamber orchestra in the world today, I haven’t heard it.”
-The Guardian

Under the direction of music director and lead violinist Richard Tognetti, the Australian Chamber Orchestra has become a one of the most sought after chamber groups of this era.

The centerpiece of the program is Water by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, written especially for the ACO during his residency in 2013, and receives its U.S. premiere on this tour. The Telegraph wrote of the UK premiere last April, “Greenwood is developing a cunning sense of form, to go with the sharp ear for harmony and texture he’s always had.” In addition to his work with Radiohead, Greenwood is also known for his award-winning film score for There Will Be Blood. Tognetti and Greenwood speak about the new piece in this video.

In addition to the Greenwood premiere, the program also includes Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A Major, Rudolf Barshai’s orchestral arrangement of Prokofiev’s Visions fugitives and Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550.
